We’re not ashamed at The Lounge Group to admit that we can be the world’s biggest geeks when something captures our imagination. For this writer, trainers are an obsession from which I have absolutely no guilt in indulging, regularly bagging multiple pairs as if purchasing footwear for the next Human Centipede movie (even drafting this blog I have somehow ventured on the the Size? site and find myself salivating).
So when the king of sneaker customizers, Nash Money, came onboard to help promote the ‘Inspired Ingenuity’ competition we are running with Havana Club we were eagerly anticipating the creation of a swap-your-mother-to-get-your-hands-on unique piece of art. And boy we were not disappointed.
Check out the ‘Sneaker Speakers’…
Take one of streetwears hall-of-fame standard items, the seminal Nike Air Force One, and turn them into a set of speakers so stunningly beautiful that every other speaker known to man suddenly looks like the useless box in which these once lived.
The response to this has been nothing short of phenomenal. After first being covered by the Creative Review blog and Art & Sole, the Sneaker Speakers have been featured more than 350 blogs worldwide. I picked one of these blogs at random to see how the idea had been received and was astounded to see that it had garnered 141 comments, 1,925 Facebook likes and 668 retweets on Twitter.
Check out the rest of the pictures on the Havana Club Facebook page.
Now all I have to do is try to get my hands on them…
